mpls = multi protocol label switching as its name identifies , its a another method of traffic switching which relay on label rather than ip routes.
the label generation and advertisment is done by another protocols.
and the label switching process can be used to carry not just ip but many protocols , that's why its a very favorable choice as core switching protocol in isp network where... (more)

Ip vrf and vrf defination are both used to create vrf but with a slight difference.
ip vrf is used to create vrf only for ipv4 address family whereas vrf defination can be used to create vrf for both ipv4 as well as ipv6 routes.

The main use of multicast address for neighbor discovery is used to reduce the Processing overload of routers. If the packet is broadcast any Layer 3 device has to process atleast upto layer 3.If it is a routing protocol,it has to see the destination port whether it is opened for that protocol or not.The best example is RIPv1,which uses broadcast for sending update or to tell its presence.

In this scenario if source want to recieve traffic from the server, if server is already having (S,G) entry the process will be as follows:-
1-User will send report message to the upstream router.
2-R5 will send a join for the group towards RP(R3).
3-When RP gets the join, it will forward that join to upstream RPF neighbor.
4-It means R3 to R2 to R1 , now R1 will start forwarding stream toward... (more)

LDP is a protocol which is used to exchange labels.LDP works totally on the basis of interior gateway routing protocols.LDP uses these same routing protocols to populate its routing table, the information that is used to form the LSPs within the network is the same as with a standard IP-routed network. For this reason, LDP relies on the routing protocols to make sure the information contained in t... (more)
